CMC Electric Supports China-Aided Gabon Senate Building Renovation Project with Equipment Delivery and Technical Training

CMC Electric provided power distribution equipment and technical training for the China-Aided Gabon Senate Building Renovation Project, supporting safe and reliable operation.

As part of the China-Aided Gabon Senate Building Renovation Project, Gabonese technical management and operation personnel recently visited CMC Electric for a dedicated technical training session on low-voltage power distribution systems. The session formed an important technical module within the project’s overall 20-day training program in China, helping the project team build practical knowledge for the safe, reliable, and long-term operation of the renovated facility.

The Gabon Senate Building Renovation Project is expected to be completed in the near future. As a supplier of key electrical distribution equipment for the project, CMC Electric provided technical training based on the actual equipment and operation requirements of the project. The training combined classroom-based technical learning with hands-on workshop practice, allowing participants to understand both the design principles and practical maintenance methods of the low-voltage distribution system.

For this project, CMC Electric supplied key low-voltage power distribution equipment, including 12 units of MNS low-voltage switchgear, 2 units of SCB13-1250 dry-type transformers, 1 set of compact busbar trunking system, and 47 units of JXF cable tapping boxes. The equipment was manufactured and inspected according to project requirements before being delivered on schedule last year. These products will support power distribution, transformation, connection, and final cable tapping functions within the renovated building’s electrical system.

The training was designed to help the Gabonese operation team gain a deeper understanding of the structure, functions, protection logic, and maintenance requirements of the supplied equipment. In addition to learning how to operate the equipment correctly, participants were guided to understand why each inspection, operation, and maintenance step is important for ensuring electrical safety and stable power supply after project handover.

During the classroom-based technical session, CMC Electric’s engineering team introduced the fundamentals of low-voltage power distribution, including the project’s distribution architecture, the basic principles of primary and secondary circuits, and the functional coordination between different electrical components. Particular attention was given to the MNS low-voltage switchgear, including its cabinet structure, busbar system, circuit breakers, current transformers, relays, metering devices, terminal blocks, and protection devices.

The training also covered essential safety knowledge, such as grounding and earthing, overload protection, short-circuit protection, switching procedures, and basic operation precautions. By connecting system principles with daily operation responsibilities, the classroom session helped participants establish a clear understanding of how the power distribution equipment works as a complete operating system.

The workshop practice session provided participants with a more direct and practical learning experience. In the workshop, CMC Electric’s technical team demonstrated standard switching operations, component identification, routine inspection procedures, and preventive maintenance methods using actual low-voltage switchgear and related distribution equipment. Participants observed and practiced key procedures such as opening and closing operations, visual inspection, tightening checks, cleaning, temperature monitoring, and basic component replacement.

This hands-on approach helped bridge the gap between technical theory and real equipment operation. By working directly with switchgear panels and distribution units, the Gabonese technical personnel were able to develop greater confidence in handling the equipment they will manage after the project is completed.

Safety, maintenance, and fault handling were also key parts of the training. CMC Electric’s engineers shared practical troubleshooting methods for common issues such as overload tripping, short-circuit faults, abnormal sounds, overheating, and arc-related risks. Through case analysis and on-site demonstration, participants learned how to identify potential problems, respond to abnormal operating conditions, and follow proper emergency handling procedures.

“Having the equipment supplier explain the design logic and guide us through inspection steps directly on the panels helps our team not only know the ‘how’ but also the ‘why’,” said one Gabonese participant during the training. “This gives us much more confidence for daily operation.”

In addition to technical instruction and hands-on practice, CMC Electric provided operation and maintenance manuals for the supplied equipment and established relevant after-sales communication channels to support future technical consultation.
